Robert Schrum Obituary
Bob Schrum, age 68, passed away at home in Kempner on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer. Graveside Services will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, October 19, 2019, at Copperas Cove City Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 5-7 PM at Scott's Funeral Home of Copperas Cove. Bob was born on August 29, 1951, in Hammond, IN to the late Ralph Schurm and Lois Scully Cummins.
He graduated from Hammond Technical Vocational High School in 1970. During his high school years, he was a member of the varsity wrestling team, golf club, and enjoyed learning construction trades. He had various jobs in Indiana as a mechanic working on semi-trailers. This line of work took him to Colorado and eventfully to Texas in 1980.
He moved to Copperas Cove where he worked locally before going to work on Fort Hood. He retired in 2009 from DPW under Donald Young and Shop 93. Bob married Sharon Rock on August 25, 2000, in Copperas Cove. Bob had a passion for his Harley Davidson motorcycles, BBQ cook-offs, and family outings. He was a hard worker all his life and provided for his family.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lois (Skeeter) Holloway; niece, Christina Schrum; nephews, Brian and Gregory (Hamby) Weber; and step-fathers, Cecil Crawford, and James F. Weber. Bob is survived by his wife, Sharon Schrum of Kempner; son, Robert J. Schrum of Cedar Lake, IN; brother, Ralph Schrum and wife, Deborah of Copperas Cove; sisters, Linda Fisher and husband, Russell of Hammond, IN, Carolyn Bruce and husband, Stephen of Kempner and three nieces and one nephew.
