He was loved and cherished by many people including: his former wife Judith Ann Houston; his wife Judith Carey of Kaufman; his children, Jeff Carey (Pam), Annette Chaney (Bobby), Todd Carey and Liz Wheeler (Mike); and his siblings, Johnitta Gaines (Bill), Leigh Roesicke (Bill) and Tom Carey Jr.. He was also cherished by several other extended family members and a host of friends.
