It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Ophelia Cortez of Kaufman, Texas, who passed away on August 28, 2020, at the age of 75, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Manuel Soto and Rita Soto. She is survived by: her husband Ramiro Cortez, Sr. of Kaufman, TX; her sons, Ramiro Cortez, Jr. of Kaufman, TX, Oscar Cortez, Sr. of Corpus Christi and Richard Cortez (Susanna) of Kaufman, TX; and her siblings, Guillermina Baldiva (Efrain) of Mesquite, TX, Cipriano Soto of Harlingen, TX, Andres Soto (Sofia) of Seagoville, TX, Gabriella Salazar (Jesus) of Corpus Christi, Celia Hernandez (George) of Denver City, TX, Beto Garza of Raymondville, TX and Rudy Garza (Estella) of Dallas, TX. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
