Paul LaPier wrote a sympathy message

“It has been years since Rick and I were in touch but through most of the 80's and into the 90's we regularly played softball together. Rick was a fierce competitor and the long time 2nd baseman on my team, the Texas Cyclones. I could not ask for a better teammate and friend than Rick Perry. RIP my friend, gone way too soon..... Paul LaPier”
