Max Jeffrey Hoaster Obituary
Max Jeffery Hoaster
“Jeff”
Jeff left this world to return to our Lord and Savior on October 21, 2022 after a long but quiet diagnosis of dementia. M. Jeffery Hoaster was born on May 21, 1942 to Max E Hoaster and Vera Wealand Hoaster in Lititz, PA.
Jeff grew up in Lititz and attended Warwick High School with both of his sisters Georgia Hoaster and Diane Hoaster. Jeff was an avid wrestler and football player. After graduating from Warwick High, Jeff went on to attend Franklin and Marshall College receiving a B.A. in English.
After college, Jeff enlisted in the Navy serving in the Vietnam War. In April of 1968, Jeff married Elaine Judith Burque in Lititz, PA at the home of his parents. They have two children, Jeremy Joseph Hoaster and Jennifer Janine Hoaster.
Jeff taught English for a year at Warwick High School before moving on to the PA State Parole and Probation Office in Harrisburg, PA. He later served on the State of Pennsylvania Parole Board and always had an innate sense of Justice which helped him make sound decisions on the board.
After retiring from the PA State Parole Board, Jeff found his passion in writing and co-authored plays based on local historical philanthropists including “Milton Hershey”, which was performed at the Hershey Theater, “The Prince of Cornwall” based on the life of Robert Coleman, Pennsylvania’s first millionaire and “The Blue Eye Six”. “The Blue Eyed Six” was eventually produced and made into a documentary film by Jeff’s cousins, Bruce and Brian Kreider.
Jeff’s favorite quote was “as long as you have a smile on your face and song in your heart” you’re good. He was a member of Camp Hill Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and sang in the choir for many years. Dad was always able to make people see the humor in any situation. He told me many times towards the end of his life “getting old sucks” but would always make me laugh and move on.
He is survived by me, his daughter, Jennifer Janine Helmich, his son, Jeremy Joseph Hoaster and his two beautiful grandchildren, Reese Owen Helmich and Megan Avery Helmich.
A Memorial service to be held in Camp Hill, PA in the Spring of 2023.
