He was predeceased by: his father Daniel Thomas Burns, Sr.; and his brother Michael Burns. He is survived by: his mother Irene Anne Racosky; his wife Jenna Lisa Burns (Kettle); his children, Krista Burns Veiga (Gavin) and Aaron Burns; his sisters, Fran Adkisson (David) and Andrea Burns (Kelvin Pryor); his grandchildren, Annalise Danielle and Alexander Antonio Veiga; and his pets, Loki and Jett. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
