He was predeceased by: his parents, Carroll John "Dutch" Nichols and Lula Skinner Nichols Sutherland; his stepfather Jimmy Sutherland; his former wife Anne Garner; and his wife Thelma Seale.
He is survived by: his children, Jean Nichols Hart (Robert) and Fred Nichols (Julie); his grandchildren, Jason Hart (Kelli), Rebecca Hart Labus (Clayton) and Dylan Nichols (Trisha Pittman); and his caregivers, Josie Mediola, Karrie Roy and Caryn Peeples. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins.
Visitation was held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel (115 S Esplanade St, Karnes City, TX 78118). A graveside service was held on Friday, March 7th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Hill Top Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Hilltop Cemetery Association (P.O. Box 163, Tilden, TX 78072), Cenizo Study Club (P.O. Box 237, Tilden, TX 78072) or Randy Dillworth Scholarship Fund through McMullen ISD (P.O. Box 359, Tilden, TX 78072).
