He was predeceased by: his wife Onis Mitchell Opiela; his parents, Peter Opiela and Hedwig Yosko Opiela; and his siblings, Sylvester Opiela, Eleanora Opiela Dupnick, Eddie Opiela, Flavia Opiela Keller, Emil Opiela, Emrick Opiela and Mary Louise Opiela Trial.
He is survived by: his children, John Opiela (Peggy Raymond), Leigh Opiela Grizzaffi (Leo Grizzaffi) and Joseph Opiela; his grandchildren, Philip Vetrano and Hayley Opiela; and his great grandchild Nora Opiela. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
