He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Dietrich Oliphant, Sr. and Pauline Odom Oliphant; his great grandchild Brian; and his siblings-in-law, J. W. and Evelyn Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Rose Marie Oliphant (Thompson); his children, Jami May, Jodi Shafor (Mark), Tracy Oliphant (Sharla) and Joseph "Joe" Dietrich Oliphant III (Hannah); his grandchildren, Elizabeth Watson (Ian), Justin Fugate, Juli Fugate, Brittany Reilly, Josh May, Maria Coleman (Chris), Caitlin Shafor, Alyssa Shafor, Lily Snider, Sydney Oliphant and Sarah Oliphant; his great grandchildren, Travis, Lucas, Aiden, Hadli, Olivia, Beckham, Barron, Charlotte, Evelyn and Henry; and his sister Gaylen Howard. He is also survived by numerous other family members and friends.
