He is survived by: his wife Brenda Carter of Justin; his brother Bobby Grimes (Rose) of Bridgeport; his children, Cheryl Mitchell (Bill) of Justin, Ty Carter (Traci) of Montague and Christy Carter of Denton; his grandchildren, Matthew Mitchell (Leslie) of Justin, Travis Mitchell (Chessie) of Justin, Aaron Watson of Montague, Jordan Doughty of Denton and Tyler Carter of Montague; and his great grandchildren, McKenna Mitchell of Justin, Aubree Mitchell of Justin, Callaway Mitchell of Justin and McKray Mitchell of Justin.
