He was predeceased by : his parents, Carl B. Smith and Lottie Blackwood Smith; his brothers-in-law, Bobby D. Adams and Earl Dean Williamson of Junction; and his son Chad Smith.

He is survived by : his wife Nancy Stapp Smith of Junction; his children, John Slade Smith and Sara Wickham (John); his grandchildren, Alyssa Smith, Bella Wickham, Zoe Smith, Hayli Smith, John Alexander Wickham and Christopher Brack Smith; his sister Billie Jo Williamson; his nephews, Carl Williamson (Misty) and Robert Adams; and his sister-in-law Patricia Adams. He is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins.
