He was predeceased by: his parents, Freida Simmons and Walter Simmons. He is survived by: his daughter Stacie Howell Orr (Michael); his grandchildren, Caitlynn Howell and Hunter Howell; and his close friend Demetra. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Vernon Lee Simmons, 73, of Jonesboro lost his battle with Alzheimer's disease.
