He was predeceased by: his wife Willene; and his parents, Frieda Simmons and Melba Rowe. He is survived by: his children, Connie Brannon (Walter, Carla Stovall), David Hogan (Rita) and DeAnn Morales; his grandchildren, Chris, Ira, Cody, Courtney, Amy, Amanda, Dominique, Jeremi, Benjamin, Joel, Jason and Joshua; and his siblings, Velda Dobbs, Ruth Green, Sue Durham, Nadene Dunn, Melton, Gayle and Dayle Squyres. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
