He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruth Wolf Gipson and George R. Gipson; and his siblings, G. R. Gipson, Roy Gipson, Vera Ruth Hirsch, Lelia Kent and Opal Ray Gipson.

He is survived by: his wife Dardanella White Gipson of Johnson City; his son Pete Gipson (Patsy) of Bulverde; and his grandchildren, Sheri Gipson of New York City and John Gipson.
