It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ethel Matthews of Johnson City, Texas, born in Bandera, Texas, who passed away on July 11, 2022, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Fayette Everett Pierce and Ida Mae Clark; her husband John Richard Matthews; her stepfather Lolan Green McCracken; her daughter Deborah Denise Brown; her grandson Aaron Matthew Thomas; her son-in-law Marvin Elton Brown; and her brothers, Eldon Pierce, James Pierce, George Pierce, Tommy McCracken and Joe McCracken.

She is survived by: her daughters, Ann Hashaw (Earl) and Elizabeth Schmitz; her siblings, Joyce Flint (Floyd), Bobby McCracken (Jamie) and Sam McCracken; her grandchildren, Christina Smith, Justine Phillips, Haley McClaran and Maelin Schmitz; her great grandchild Brayden Smith; and her sisters-in-law, Althia Pierce, Jonell Pierce and Susan McCracken. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
