He was predeceased by: his father Daniel F. Opela; his grandparents, Frank, Johanna Opela, Joseph and Erna Ohnhesier; his aunts and uncles, Bennie Opela, Melvin Ohnhesier, Lawrence and Theresa Ohnhesier; and his cousins, Shirley and Ann Opela.

He is survived by: his mother Doris Ohnhesier Opela; his siblings, Ronald (Lisa), Kathy (Jim) and Danette (Ken); his child Courtney (Josh); his grandchildren, Trent, Beckham and Knox Davis; his aunts, Bonnie Ohnheiser and Delores Opela; his nieces and nephews, Jennifer Perez (Julian), Ronnie Opela (Martha), Marcus Ritchie, Brooke (Rod), Danielle Ritchie, Kenny and Chelsea (Jarod); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Isabella, Julian Jr., Bagwell Perez, Addison Speigel, Raiden Briseno, Bodhi, Lilah Opela, Mason, Micah Ritchie and Raelynn.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, or to Danny's niece, Danielle Ritchie, who is currently also battling Cancer.
