He was predeceased by: his parents, Saunders Mayfield Thomas Sr. and Grace Anne Bird; his former wife Verna Lee Thomas; and his brothers, S. M. Thomas Jr., Arthur Thomas, Gerald Thomas, Bobby Thomas Sr. and George Thomas.
He is survived by: his wife Priscilla Mobbs Thomas; his son Jerry Paul Thomas; his stepsons, Mike Fox and Glen Fox; his siblings, Betty Hatley and Johnny B. Thomas; and his grandchildren, Paula Thomas Swilley, Shane, Jeff Thomas, Kristin, Lee Thomas, Lindsey, Krystal Tarver, Nathan, Jessica Fox, Jeffrey Fox, Mary and Hakan Fox. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephew, extended family and friends.
