With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Verna Auston of Jefferson, Texas, born in Abernathy, Texas, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on September 6, 2024 at the age of 97. In the sacred silence of farewell, Verna is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that her light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of her loved ones. She was predeceased by: her parents, Jasper Lee Marshall and Alice Beatrice Thompson Marshall; and her daughter Shirley Rainwater. She is survived by: her children, Gloria J. Matter and Marvin F. Pitt. She is also survived by one sister, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter.
