He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Emanuel Pentecost and Mary Ethel Morris Pentecost; his wife Bobbye Dear Pentecost; his sister Molly Wandelle Fender; his son-in-law George Bates; his siblings, Mary Louise Haney, Martha Lucille Williams, Joseph Edward Pentecost and Weston Maury Pentecost; and his granddaughter Aimee Ard.
He is survived by: his daughters, Roxie Bates of Douglasville, Texas and Sue Pentecost Sunstrum of Allen, Texas; his siblings, Laverne Mercer and Wesley Maurice Pentecost; and his grandchildren, Lisa Tupy, Bryan Tupy, Ashley, Bill Tupy, Lucy, Nicole Poole, Nick, Natalie Fellows, Nathan, Aaron Sunstrum, Josh Shirey, Layla, Ivy Shirey, Haley DeLong, Susan Skinkle, Brian, Melanie Fischer, Stacy, Stephanie Jones and Mike. He is also survived by 20 great grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to be made to the First United Methodist Church Of Jefferson, Texas at 305 West Henderson Street; The Wells Chapel Cemetery Association at 211 Tobacco Road, Linden, Texas 75563; The Wounded Warrior Project at https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
