He was predeceased by: his father Burton Kenneth Hughes; and his stepfather Cecil B. Mitchell. He is survived by: his mother Mayme B. Retherford Mitchell; his sisters, Sandra Casey and Cecilia Bickham; and his daughter Maliwan. He is also survived by four granddaughters.
