He was predeceased by: his parents, Geraldine Brooks Haggard and Lyle Thornton Simpson; his stepmother Dorothy Simpson; and his stepsister Susan Dorgan. He is survived by: his grandchildren, Mary Karen, William Simpson, Devin Dies and Jan Lester (George "Butch"); and his stepsiblings, Julia Elwood (David) and Jimmy Marshall (Brigetta).
