He was predeceased by: his parents, F. A. "Scooter" Mathews and Barbara Jean Powell; and his brother Fred Mathews, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Toran Mathews; and his children, Rachael Griffith (Austin), Megan Jones (Jeffrey), Talon Mathews, Russell Hartsell (Emily), Jeffrey Hartsell, John Hartsell and Destiny Hartsell. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, and many more aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and friends.
