He was predeceased by: his parents, James Cole Yeates and Hattie Byerly Yeates; and his brothers, Harvey, James and Cecil Yeates.
He is survived by: his wife Lou Yeates; his sons, Robert Yeates (Karen), Ken Yeates and T. J. Yeates of Jasper; his sister Geraldine Brown of Putnam, Connecticut; and his grandchildren, Brooks, Meagan Yeates, Keaton, Abby Yeates, Jessica, Yousef Al-Khalifah, Devin, Ashley Yeates, Damon Bettingfield and Amber Bizzell. He is also survived by thirteen great grandchildren.
