He is survived by: his children, Zachary Root of Arlington, Jacob Root of Brookeland, Joshua Root of Nederland and Rebecca Root of Brookeland; and his siblings, Ronald Root (Angie) of Groves, Glenn Root (Terry) of Groves, Peggy McMurrough (Joe) of Jasper and Linda Baumgartne (Terry) of Atascocita.
