He was predeceased by: his parents, William Lee and Gladys Nichols Byrd; and his siblings, Iva Lee Brittian and Jimmy Lester Byrd. He is survived by: his wife Lynda Prewitt Byrd; his children, Darinda Roxanne Medcalf (Randall), Eddie Lynn Byrd and Joseph Daniel Prewitt (Sarah); his grandson Hunter Cole Prewitt; his siblings, Ricky Wayne Byrd, Loyce Marie Arreola and Melda Gladys Arreola; his great-niece Ivalee Elizabeth Calhoun; and his great-nephews, James Edward Lee Brittian and Gerald Wayne Calhoun.
