He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Carroll and Irene Higgs (Jones); his wife Betty Ruth Baird; his children, John Edward Higgs and Thomas Dale Higgs; and his siblings, Carolyn Doyle Fleming, William Ralph Higgs, Lee Douglas Higgs and Jerry Michael Heard.
He is survived by: his sons, James Michael Higgs and David Carol Higgs; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Nicole Williams, Benjamin Shelton Higgs and Haley Michelle Salazar; his great grandchildren, Tremain, Emma, Alex and Elija; and his friend John Hall.
