He was predeceased by: his parents, J. Louie Burks and Mary Lee Burks; his wife Barbara Jean Henley of Frankston; his parents-in-law, Fred L. and Burtis M. Henley of Frankston, Texas; and his sister Barbara Westbrook Carter of Poynor.
He is survived by: his sons, Dr. Scott Burks (Carrie) of Hattiesburg, MS and Tim Burks of Frankston; his grandsons, Jonathan Burks (Morgan) of Houston and Dr. Andrew Burks (Peyton Burks) of Jackson, MS; his brother Johnny Burks (Judy) of Frankston; his nephews, Dr. Bill Westbrook (Rhonda) of Hallsville, Steve Westbrook (Sandra) of Brenham, Spencer Beard (Janisue) of Frankston, Greg Beard of Frankston and Gary Beard (Margo) of Athens; his niece Stephanie Brink (Mac) of Dallas; and his cousin Sonny Perry of Frankston. He is also survived by cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
