He is survived by: his wife Jackie Gruber of Jacksonville; his children, Jennifer Swedoski (Mike) of Jacksonville, Kirsten Mathis (Paul) of Denison and Donal Eugene Gruber II (Tereasa) of Wisconsin; his grandchild Darron Baxter of Jacksonville; his brothers, John Gruber (Sandy) of Ohio and Bill Gruber of Ohio; his grandchildren, Tiffany Barber (John), Marjorie Fetty, Devin Mauch, Barrett Gruber, Cade Gruber, Alina Swedoski, Kalan Gruber and Parker Gruber; and his great grandchildren, Ivan Barber, Eugenia Barber and Fay Mauch. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Thursday, November 14th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Autry Funeral Home - Jacksonville (1025 E Loop 456, Jacksonville, TX 75766). A funeral service was held on Friday, November 15th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the First Methodist Church (1031 TX-456 Loop, Jacksonville, TX 75766).
