It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Benny Smith of Jacksonville, Texas, born in Hillsboro, Texas, who passed away on February 2, 2025, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Patterson and Myrtle Lee Smith (Gilbreath); his wife Nell Ruth Smith; and his son Stephen Ray Smith. He is survived by: his children, Sandra Jones, Marc Smith (Cathy) of Jacksonville and Brent Smith (Kandie) of Jacksonville; his sisters, Glenda Lewis of Wichita Falls, Patsy Bonds (Hayward) of Garland and Jean Tanner of Waco; and his grandchildren, Chris Jones (Casey), Timothy Jones, Sarah Burns (Steven), Emily Little (Alec), Katie Sandlin (Zach), Megan Evans (Travis), Miranda Johnston (Wes) and Taylor Adams (Aaron). He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Autry Funeral Home - Jacksonville (1025 E Loop 456, Jacksonville, TX 75766). A graveside service was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Rather than customary condolences, memorials may be made to Legacy Nursing Home in Jacksonville and Heart to Heart Hospice.
