He was predeceased by: his parents, Newton Tekell and Ruby Tekell (Ivy); and his siblings, Harold, Adron, Melvin Tekell and Joyce Boyd.

He is survived by: his former wife Rebecca "Becky" Sue Hill of Whitney; his wife Rebecca Sue Tekell (Hill) of Itasca; his children, Sandra Sue Brackin (Regi) of Arlington, Kenneth Charles Tekell (Jo) of Itasca, Kathi Gay Rogers (Danny) of Hillsboro, Scotty Howard Tekell (Kelly) of Whitney and Timothy Marshal Tekell (Susan) of Lorena; his grandchildren, David Wayne Brackin (Martha) of Itasca and Jaime Siegert (Ryan) of College Station, Ala; his great grandchildren, Gillian Rose Brackin, Farryn Nicole Aday, Hannah Ruth Brackin, Adalynn Paige Aday, Rylan Raely Siegert, Remi Grace Siegert, Kase Michael Brackin, Katie Hill Brackin, Myles Wayne Brackin, Caden Fitzgerald Moorehead, Jace Andrew Rogers, Beckham Asher Tekell, Macey Rose Brackin, Ledger Coe Martinez and Bo Wesley Brackin; and his siblings, Jerry Tekell of Hillsboro and Dorothy Duncan (Tekell) of Hillsboro. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
