Janet Gebert Bates, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away on June 14, 2023, at the age of 76. She was born on September 13, 1946, in Dallas, Texas, to William and Grace Gebert. Janet grew up in Irving, Texas, and attended Irving High School, graduating with fond memories of her time there.

Janet was a dedicated stay-at-home mom who cherished her role in raising her children. She also found joy in substitute teaching for the Irving Independent School District and running a private daycare from her home, where she touched the lives of numerous children with her loving care and guidance.

Janet's involvement in the community extended beyond her home and classroom. She served as the PTA president for many years in the Irving Independent School District, demonstrating her commitment to the education and well-being of the students in her community. Janet was an active and cherished member of First United Methodist Church, where she found strength and inspiration in her Christian faith.

Family was at the center of Janet's life, and she reveled in the love and companionship of her friends and relatives. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she wholeheartedly supported them in all their endeavors.

Janet is survived by her loving daughters, Candice and husband Bobby Brumbelow, and Diann and husband Rance Brannan; her cherished grandchildren, Dean and wife Carmen Cleghorn, Hayley Cleghorn, and Karlie Watson; and her adored great-granddaughter, Jada Rae Cleghorn. She is also survived by her sister, Bonnie Roraback, her sister Betty Graham, her brother Bill Gebert, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Grace and William Gebert, her brother David Gebert, and her brother Dickey Johnson.
