He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Merrick and Bessie Mae Lewis; and his siblings, Barbara McGowan and Wilson Merrick. He is survived by: his wife Antonia Guidry Merrick; his daughters, Tomika Merrick (Dedrick) of Beaumont and Chelisa Merrick of Houston, Texas; his stepchildren, Jacobi Merrick (Melinda) of Beaumont, Willie Guidry (Rose) of Arcola and Xavier Guidry of Spring, Texas.; his sisters, Linda Cullivan of Atlanta and Sheila Mayes (Roger) of Houston, Texas.; his grandchildren, JaColahn of Washington, D. C., Brizare, Chelsea, Sydnee of Beaumont, Doyle of Houston, Gregory of Arcola, Noah of Arcola, Mathieu of Arcola, Willie of Arcola, Landry of Arcola, Ri'lee and Benjamin of Spring, Texas; his nieces and nephews, Bessie (Gary), Brandi (Ernest), Eboni of Beaumont, Texas, Muriel, Bridget (Dee), Shawn, Roger of Houston, Texas, Shenika of Atlanta, Georgia, Bobby (Undrea), Herbert and Justin (Tay Renee) of Beaumont; his goddaughter Heather of Beaumont; and also Dreya of Beaumont, Texas. He is also survived by eight sisters-in-law and nine brothers-in-law.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the House of Prayer (3350 Washington Blvd, Beaumont, TX 77705). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A repast will be held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 at the same location.
