With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Sami Louise Shirley of Ingleside, Texas, born in Yazoo City, Mississippi, who passed away on July 16, 2024 at the age of 83. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Brinson Stringer and Lela Durham Stringer; her husband Troy; and her siblings, Jesse Lee Stringer of Chicago, Joseph Bruce Stringer of Aransas Pass, John Douglas Stringer of Gulfport, Mississippi, Ruth Hal McClelland Groff of Jackson and Naomi Blaine Bonorden of Aransas Pass.
She is survived by: her daughters, Elizabeth Kay Shirley of Ingleside and Brenda Anne Shirley Harris; and her grandchildren, Benjamin Troy Locker of Richmond, VA, Jonathan Ross Locker of Pittsburgh, PA and Amanda Marie Locker of Pittsburgh, PA. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; Shirley Family in-laws; and life-long friends.
She received the Cystic Fibrosis Research Service award for her dedication to raising awareness and funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
