He was predeceased by: his wife Marjorie Moore Ray; his sisters, Doris Ray and Hazel Jones; and his parents, Arthur Howard Ray and Mittie Grace Byers.

He is survived by: his children, Grace (Jim Roberson), Judson T. Ray Jr. of Hobbs, Samuel (Vickie Ray), Howard Ray of Hobbs, Robert (Betsy Ray) and Christie (Chuck Barbe); and his grandchildren, Tarence, Cason, Braden and Matthew.
