He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Hirt; his daughter Suzanne Newsom (Glen); his stepsons, Adam Veenstra (Diann) and Eric Veenstra (Jeni); his grandchildren, Brittany Soto (Adrian), Spencer Newsom, Nicholas Newsom (Chelsea), Evan Veenstra, Kinsley Weston and Wyatt Veenstra; his great grandchildren, A. J., Kadynn and Arianna; his brother Dennis Hirt (Bonnie); his sister-in-law Pam Schlemmer (Kerry); and his nieces and nephews, Karl Hirt, Alex Hirt, Tina Hirt, Ann Young and Jill Matous.
