He was predeceased by: his parents, Hampton Johnston and Jessie Edens Johnston; his sister Wydette; his brother-in-law Dr. Ned Barrett; his sister Mary Read; and his sister-in-law Peggy Moore.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia Moore Johnston; his children, Mary Martha (John Pickens) of Dallas and Bill (Rachel Johnston) of Kerrville; his grandsons, Will Johnston of Kerrville, Luke Johnston of Kerrville and Jackson Johnston of Kerrville; his brother Roy; his siblings-in-law, Carolyn Johnston of San Antonio, Jack and Kathy Moore of Kerrville; and his friend Juan Martinez of Ingram, Texas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
