He was predeceased by: his parents, John Foster and Ruby Exer Fowler Patten; and his wife Frances Delphine Simpson. He is survived by: his daughter Lydia; his son-in-law Jason Dale of Lone Oak; his daughter Patsy Patten of Lone Oak; his granddaughter Melissa Dale of Irving; and his siblings, Bill Patten of Midlothian and Margie Moore of Harrison. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
