He was predeceased by: his parents, Meyer Wenning and Ruth Wenning (Joan Miller Wenning); his sister Marge O'Connell; his nephew Philip O'Connell; and his stepgrandson Mathew Sames.

He is survived by: his spouse Joan Miller Wenning; his children, Anita Rothwell (Frank), George Wenning and Patrick Wenning (Bill Toscano); his grandchildren, Caitlin Alyce Rothwell and Gideon Rothwell; his stepchildren, Rocky Bruni (Patty), Michelle "Micky" and Triana Sames (Richard); and his stepgrandchildren, Sarah Crow (Philip), Ernest Bruni (Ginger), Catherine Bruni, Brandon Jones, Richard Sames Jr. and David Sames. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
