He was predeceased by: his mothers, Laura Mae Bates and Rev. Amy Charles Bates; his siblings, Arthur Charles Bates, Amy Charlene Bates and Sandy LaDay; and his daughter LaTashia Bates.
He is survived by: his wife Terina Bates; his children, Tearra Bates, Cashayla Bates, Christazchia Kendrick (Ryan) and Michael Bates Jr. Jamarcus Lawrence (Mya); and his sister-in-law Bridget Taylor. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren.
Viewing was held on Saturday, April 12th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Faith Church (8430 Tidwell Rd, Houston, TX 77028). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, April 12th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
