With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Ouida Murell Hatten of Hughes Springs, Texas, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 15, 2024 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Charlie Carter and Emma Lou Hillis Carter (James Hatten); her daughter Jamie Todd; her granddaughter Chrystalyn Baker; and her siblings, L. C. Carter, Pasco Carter, Winfred Carter and Glenn Carter.
She is survived by: her children, Burnett Hollis of Houston, TX, Ronald Hatten (Debra) of Hughes Springs, TX, Patsy Taylor (Michael) of Atlanta, TX, Roderick Hatten of Hughes Springs, TX, Phyllis Harrison (Rickey) of Hughes Springs, TX, Anson Johnson (Tammie) of Greenville, TX, Aerial Williams (Neil) of Houston, TX, Rodrick Brown-Hatten and Shatrice Brown-Hatten of Texarkana, TX; her sisters, Lillian Grimes of Dallas, TX and Vivian Betts of Hughes Springs, TX; her brother-in-law Debron Hatten Jr. of Hughes Springs, TX; and her close friends, Patricia Murphy, Gean Ellison, Gussie Stokes, Mary Love and Wanda Gaston. She is also survived by 31 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives.
The lying in state was held on Friday, November 22nd 2024 from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Reeder-Davis Funeral Home - Hughes Springs (1213 Hanes Blvd, Hughes Springs, TX 75656). Visitation was held on Friday, November 22nd 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 23rd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Hughes Springs Community Church (750 Taylor St, Hughes Springs, TX 75656).
