David Rodney Black Sr. Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of David Rodney Black Sr. of Hughes Springs, Texas, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 2, 2025 at the age of 82. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Hoyt Black and Ethel Id Wallace Black; his brothers, Henry Hoyt, Jr. and Richard Black; his son David Rodney Black, Jr.; his wife Sue Key Black; and his siblings-in-law, Joyce Black, Wayne Beals and Carlee Key.
He is survived by: his daughters, Tonya, Byron Compton, Jeannie and J. C. Anderson; his brother Henry Black (Mary); his grandchildren, James (Allison Duke), Kelli (Richie Rumbo), Jantzen (Amanda Foster), Haley (Brandon Farmer), Colby (Sierra Anderson) and Trent Anderson (Pamala Marshall); and his great grandchildren, Jaycee, Kellan, Hudson, Hendrix, Rylee, Trip, Kingston, Aiden, Serenity, Evie, Prinston and Easton.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Reeder-Davis Funeral Home - Hughes Springs (1213 Hanes Blvd, Hughes Springs, TX 75656). A graveside service was held on Sunday, January 5th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Harris Chapel Cemetery (11 S Pecan, Hughes Springs, TX 75656).
