Edward is survived by his wife of 64 years, Anneliese, sons, Thomas and Terry, daughter, Tina (John), four grandchildren, Kristen, David, Cole, and Mitchell, and four great-granddaughters, Karlie, Rosalie, Kennedy, and Hazel.
Edward served in the United States Air Force from 1953 until retirement in 1976, as a teletype operator, crypto operator, and bomb assemblyman. Stateside service bases were New York, California, and Virginia: foreign service bases included Iceland, Germany, Viet Nam, and Thailand.
After his military retirement, Smitty's Gun shop in Layton, Roy, and Salt Lake City were Edward's second career path, buying, selling, and repairing guns of all makes and models, before retiring in 2000.
