He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Jiles Doughty and Nancy Della Doughty (Erwin); his wife Margie (Evelyn); his brothers, Edward Carroll Doughty and Erwin Grady Doughty; his son-in-law Herbert Erwin Hebbe Jr.; and his grandson Joey Don Payne.
He is survived by: his children, Patricia Ann Hebbe, Kathy Lee Payne (Larry) and Edward Leo Doughty; and his grandchildren, Thad Alan Hawkins, Patricia Marie Whitley (Jimmy), Mary Ann Lightfoot (Barry), Brian Kyle Hawkins (Nicole), Leigh Ann Magnuson (Paul Hartsfield) and Scottie Payne. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and many chosen grandchildren and great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
