He was predeceased by: his parents, Barney Sanders Townsend and Pearl Elois Townsend (Fewell); his wife Frances Townsend (Moore); his son Donald Ray Townsend; and his children-in-law, Carlis Tabors and Edna Townsend.
He is survived by: his children, Margaret Lee Tabors, Cheri Holland and Peter Wayne Townsend; and his grandchildren, Mitzi Arredondo (David), Jennifer Scott (Robert), Nettie Goodpaster (Steve), Kelley Sanchez (Eric), Michael Tabors (Darla), Jeremy Tabors, Phillip Holland, Kellye Bohannon, Amber Townsend, Crystal Townsend, Dewayne Townsend, Carl Townsend and Christi Townsend. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and other extended family.
