He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Matthys and Annie "Knipstein" Matthys; his siblings, Vernon Matthys, Katherine Tucker and Shirley Feller; his parents-in-law, Henry and Dora Anz; his brother-in-law Kevin Anz; and his nephew Brian Matthys.
He is survived by: his wife Katharine Matthys; his sons, Bradley Matthys (Sarah) of West and Brent Matthys (Crystal) of Corpus Christi, Texas; his grandchildren, Kindra Matthys, Brody Matthys and Cole Matthys; and his siblings-in-law, Tommy Tucker and Sandra Anz. He is also survived by many other nephews, nieces, family, and friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 17th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Wade Funeral Home (201 NW 3rd St, Hubbard, TX 76648). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 18th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Wade Funeral Chapel (201 NW 3rd St, Hubbard, TX 76648). A burial was held on Wednesday, December 18th 2024 at 2:30 PM at the Clifton Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hubbard Lions Club, Hubbard Volunteer Fire Department, West Masonic Lodge 475, or West EMS.
