He was predeceased by: his wife Martina Akins (Lawrence); and his stepson Dickie Hayes. He is survived by: his children, Mark Akins of Howe, Greg Akins (Sue) of Howe, Eric Akins (Janice) of Howe, Kent Akins of Howe, Doug Hayes (Melissa) of College Station and Jill Cole of Roanoke, TX. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
