He was predeceased by: his parents, R. B. Thornton of Groom and Lula Lynn Smith of Groom; and his brothers, Joe Thornton of Groom and Jerry Thornton of Groom, Texas.. He is survived by: his children, Joseph Thornton of Dallas, John Thornton of Denison and Breanna Thornton of Denison; his stepdaughters, Elizabeth Schaack of Denison, Sarah Schaack of Denison and Rachel Schaack-Brede of Denison; his niece Connie Britten; and his nephews, Troy Thornton, Bruce Thornton, Brent Thornton and Curtis Thornton.
