She was predeceased by: her parents, William Noble Carl Sr. and Wilminor Morris Carl; her grandparents, William Carloss Morris, Willie Stewart Morris of Galveston and Houston; her great-grandparent Judge William H. Stewart; her husband Robert Alfred Gardner; her siblings, Mary Carl Briner, William Noble Carl Jr. and Thomas Stewart Carl; and her grandson John Nelson Russell.
She is survived by: her sons, John Leo Russell Jr. (Dianne) and William Wiley Russell (Suzanne); her grandchildren, Fendley Anne Russell, Vivian Kindred Russell and Cooper William Russell; her sisters-in-law, Lucy Reinking Carl and Anne Thornton Carl; her stepchildren, David R. Gardner (Nancy) and Beth G. Florence (John); her stepgrandsons, William and John Florence; and her stepchildren, Mary, Robert and Charley Gardner. She is also survived by numerous nephews and cousins.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, March 13th 2025 at the Hankamer Chapel at Second Baptist Church (6400 Woodway Dr, Houston, TX 77057).
