He was predeceased by: his parents, Ida Lorene and John George Mercer; his siblings, Ruth and Roger; his daughter Laure Leighton; and his son-in-law Robert Leighton.
He is survived by: his wife Kathleen K. Mercer; his daughters, Kristin Mercer Anthony (David Anthony), Korin Mercer Burnett (Derrick Burnett) and Kimberly Mercer Thweatt (Joseph Thweatt); his grandchildren, Robert Leighton, Dustin Leighton, Jacob Leighton, Kayler Burnett, Chace Anthony, Shelby Burnett, Paige Anthony, Sophie Thweatt and Mercer Thweatt; and his friends, Gary Alletag, Frank Bantle, Jesse Jenckes, Mike Phillips, Bob Lehman, Joe Richardson, Jerry Runnels and Jack Stoner.
