It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ruth Sanders Barnes in Houston, Texas, born in Whitehouse, Texas, who passed away on November 1, 2024, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Ruth may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the echoes of her kindness, the warmth of her embrace, and the light of her enduring love.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Merrit and Margie Merrit (Travis); and her siblings, Addie, Dessie, Travis and Elry.
She is survived by: her husband Jack Sanders; and her friend Jack Barnes of Cleburne, Texas.. She is also survived by her stepchildren, several nieces and nephews and her church family.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Friendship Baptist Church (1248 W Hurst Blvd, Hurst, TX 76053). A funeral service was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Wednesday, November 13th 2024 at 11:30 AM at the Dallas - Fort Worth National Cemetery.
